ELECTRICAL STUDIES & ANALYSIS

Fault Level Calculation & Relay Coordination

FLC & RC is important for designing protective devices, determining equipment ratings, and ensuring coordination between protective devices.

  • It gives you Detailed report explaining the input data, system configuration, observations and recommendations.
  • Fault currents at various buses and branches in the system.
  • Relay setting charts/tables with optimum settings.
  • Time coordination curves.
  • Sequence of operation.
  • Relay setting soft file.

Lightning Protection Study

This study is carried out by lightning protections experts.

  • Study of risk calculation.
  • Basic indications of the installation
  • Study of coverage adapted to the building or group of buildings to be protected
  • Installation proposal
  • List of necessary materials.
  • Materials and labor budget.

System Harmonics & Analysis of Plant

An evaluation of the harmonic voltage and current limits, (e.g., IEEE Std. 519) is completed to determine the effectiveness of the installation.

  • Avoids damage due to excessive harmonic currents in transformers and capacitor banks.
  • Ensures sensitive electronic equipment will not malfunction due to excessive harmonic voltage distortion.
  • Satisfies the utility’s voltage and current harmonic distortion requirements.

Arc Flash Study

You should consider an Arc Flash Analysis :

  • if it hasn’t been done in the last three years,
  • if short-circuit studies haven’t been done in the last five years,
  • if there have been changes to the electrical system,
  • if a safety audit is needed or
  • if the insurance policy is up for renewal, or
  • if there are plans to modify or expand the electrical system.

Short Circuit Analysis

Performing a Short Circuit Study provides the following benefits:

  • Reduces the risk a facility could face and help avoid catastrophic losses.
  • Increases the safety and reliability of the power system and related equipment.
  • Evaluates the application of protective devices and equipment.
  • Identifies problem areas in the system.
  • Identifies recommended solutions to existing problems.

Load Flow Analysis

A load flow analysis determines how the electrical system will perform during normal and emergency operating conditions, providing the information needed to:

  • Optimize circuit usage
  • Develop practical voltage profiles
  • Minimize kW and kVar losses
  • Develop equipment specification guidelines
  • Identify transformer tap settings

Lux Study

The standard unit for measuring the light level intensity is termed as LUX level. It is also known as illumination or illuminance. It calculates the intensity of light that falls on the surface like – floors or walls in the lighting design.

  • In areas where we do tasks like reading, it is recommended to increase the LUX to 200.

  • To light open office areas and conference rooms adequately, 300-500 lux level lighting is sufficient.

Thermography

Thermal images are an easy way to identify apparent temperature differences in industrial three-phase electrical circuits, compared to their normal operating conditions.

  • Identify factors that indicate pending electrical failure and fix the issue before it poses a danger.
  • Discover equipment leaks so you can repair them well before they cause unplanned downtime.
  • Heat flow patterns reveal areas of abnormally high temperature, aiding in predictive maintenance
